BIMC Kuta’s 24-hour Accident & Emergency Centre treats scooter injuries every day. Knowing the first steps — and who to call — can change an outcome.
Rented scooters are the most popular way to get around Bali, and road-traffic injuries are the leading reason travellers need emergency care. BIMC Kuta was built as a 24-hour Accident & Emergency Centre precisely because of this — with a first-response team, trauma-ready ER and ambulances on standby around the clock.
The first ten minutes
- Move to a safe spot away from traffic if you can do so without worsening an injury
- Call for help immediately — keep the BIMC Kuta emergency line saved before you ride
- Do not remove a helmet if there is any suspected neck or head injury
- Control bleeding with firm, direct pressure using a clean cloth
- Even minor road rash should be cleaned professionally — infection is common in the tropics
Save your nearest hospital’s emergency number in your phone on day one. Seconds matter, and you should never have to search for it.
Why road rash needs a doctor
Grazes that look minor can trap gravel and dirt deep in the skin, and Bali’s warm, humid climate makes wound infection far more likely. Proper cleaning, dressing and a tetanus check greatly reduce the risk of scarring and complications.
BIMC Kuta’s emergency team is equipped for everything from wound care to fractures and, where needed, coordinates medical evacuation. If you are ever unsure how serious an injury is, call — assessment is always better than waiting.
